Hampstead and Pender County have been 'discovered' as excellent places to live.

Hampstead is a sleepy little village on the sound side across from Topsail Island. It offers affordable living near the beach, short commutes to Wilmington or Camp Lejeune, and only a little longer trip up I-40 to Raleigh.

Many newcomers would like to participate in the civic, social and volunteer activities that help so much to determine the quality of life in our community but don't know which ones are available, what they do, or how to make contact with the members and officers.

Almost everything that makes a community special is done by these non-profit organizations, done with countless hours of volunteer time and volunteer money from countless thousands of volunteers.

This website will be a work in progress to make that information easily available from one source - here - and before too long, I'll print everything in a brochure and distribute copies around the area, and invite participation from other groups what would like a presence.

Please share your thoughts about what ought to be included.

* I thought when I started this project I might discover a few, to several, opportunities to volunteer in Hampstead. I had NO IDEA how much volunteer work is being done already, or how great the need is for more. Here is a real way to do something for your community - it's easy to give money - it takes only a little more to donate your time, and there are plenty of opportunities to donate time on a regular basis, on an 'as needed' basis, or just from time to time when you have a couple of hours to spare.
